Greetings Ardagh Bluffs Families,
Welcome to the month of May! This month we look forward to acknowledging the various recognition months in Canada and Ontario including: Armenian, Asian, Dutch, Jewish, Polish and South Asian Heritage Months. To begin the month, we will also recognize Children’s Mental Health Week and SCDSB’s Education Week.
At Ardagh Bluffs Public School, we are committed to maintaining a safe, inviting and supportive school environment, and recognize that all students and community members have the right to be safe, and feel safe, in our school. We also recognize and value the importance of relationships with families and know that these relationships have a positive impact on student well-being, achievement and belonging. As school administrators, we are committed to being available to speak to parents and guardians about their experiences at our school. If you would like to connect regarding successes or challenges experienced this year, please connect with us via phone (705-728-5698) or by email at [email protected]. We are also outdoors during almost all entry and dismissal times and you are welcome to connect with us at the Kiss and Ride, Kindergarten or bussing areas. Please know that we are committed to working collaboratively to finding shared solutions and ensuring that families feel safe and supported in our school community.
We would like to thank the Ardagh Bluffs Community for their ongoing support throughout the month of April! We were pleased to see so many families supporting both our Domino’s Raise the Dough Fundraiser and our Wendy’s Night Fundraiser. We were able to raise approximately $467.94 for purchases for our Eat Well to Excel, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, STEAM, General School Needs and Classroom Needs. Thank you also to our School Council for organizing this year’s Astronomy in Action evening. Our Council applied for, and obtained, the Parent’s Reaching Out Grant to provide the funding to cover the cost of this event.
This month we are looking forward to many, many extra-curricular and curricular events and activities! We are eager to welcome our newest Bengals during Welcome to Kindergarten which will take place from 4:15-5:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 14th. Our school community is eager to be participating in Jump Rope for Heart on Friday, May 8th to raise funds for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. We’re also very excited that Track and Field will be held at Ardagh on Thursday, May 14th (rain date Friday, May 15th). In addition, the Grade 3’s are busy preparing for their EQAO assessment which will take place during the first week of June while the Grade 6 students will participate in the assessment during the last week of May.
Thank you for your continued support during our School Council Fundraisers. This month we are looking forward to fundraising initiatives including Grow for the Green through Bradford Greenhouses and freezies for Grades 4-8 students during Track and Field. The School Council will meet again on Wednesday, May 20th from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the school library. All parents and guardians are welcome to attend this meeting and volunteer to support the initiatives described above as well as engage in planning for the 2026-2027 school year.
Wishing everyone a safe and learning filled month,
Ms. Robinson and Ms. Marjerrison
